Dianemarie (DM) Collins interviews Randall Redding, the CEO of Mill Town Music Hall as well as a construction company and a clothing company. It’s challenging to open a music venue – and you will learn all about how this West Georgia based music hall got its start, some of the stars like Tanya Tucker, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Gatlin Brothers and Toby Keith who performed at Mill Town Music Hall, along with lots of other stories.

Mill Town Music Hall is a 1,040 seat concert venue in Bremen, GA. Mill Town opened in January 2012 and hosts 25-30 concerts each year. The theater is located at 1031 Alabama Avenue in the Mill Town Marketplace complex in a completely revamped facility that previously housed an Ingle’s grocery store.

Mill Town primarily hosts concerts by Classic Country, ’90s Country, Motown, Classic Pop/Rock, Bluegrass, and Gospel artists. Some notable performers who have appeared at the venue include Loretta Lynn, Kenny Loggins, The Charlie Daniels Band, Sara Evans, Charley Pride, The Gaither Vocal Band, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Tanya Tucker, The Oak Ridge Boys, and The Temptations.

Mill Town Music Hall was founded by Bremen natives, Randall and Tena Redding. The Reddings had purchased the shopping complex a few years prior to Mill Town’s opening to keep the shopping center vibrant after the flagship WalMart store vacated the center to build a new superstore. Interestingly, the WalMart in the complex was the smallest WalMart in the world at that time.

Mill Town established policies early on that would maintain a family-friendly atmosphere and the owners made the decision immediately not to serve alcoholic beverages at the concerts.

The Reddings also began the tradition of opening every concert with prayer. They also decided to lease the facility to a local church two days a week to allow the church to start a satellite location.

The opening concerts took place on Friday and Saturday, February 2nd and 3rd, 2012 and featured several gospel groups including The Talleys, the Dixie Echoes, Brian Free and Assurance, The Diplomats, and the Isaacs. The following weekend featured bluegrass stars, Dailey & Vincent.

The following months saw bigger acts like Ricky Skaggs, Steven Curtis Chapman, and The Oak Ridge Boys. On August 23rd, 2012, Mill Town hosted a tribute to Nashville producer/record executive and Bremen-native, Harold Shedd. This tribute featured several artists with whom Shedd had worked during his career including Country supergroup, Alabama, Mel Tillis, and Toby Keith.

Mill Town also acts as a perfect environment for fundraising events and/or conferences. The Blake House (a men’s recovery ministry) operates the concessions, directs parking, and maintains Mill Town to raise money for its ministry.
