The DM Zone loves to travel and it was especially fun to tour the Antebellum Trail of Georgia which took us directly into Madison, GA. Madison was spared during the Civil War when General Sherman deemed it just ‘too pretty to burn’ on his way to the coast. The result of that mean that Madison GA has the second largest historic district in Georgia with over 80 stately mansions with grounds and gardens that dip in the memory of the Old South.

Dianemarie (DM) Collins included her favorite ten antebellum homes in this video. Madison, GA is a magical southern city just an hour east of Atlanta, Madison is the town Sherman refused to burn on his infamous March to the Sea. Its National Register Historic District is one of the state’s largest collections of 19th century architecture.

Madison is home to three house museums nestled in the Historic District. Discover the stories of Madison’s past by wandering through Heritage Hall, Roger’s House, and Rose Cottage, open for tours daily. The Madison-Morgan Cultural Center is located in an extraordinary 1895 Romanesque Revival style building that once served as one of the Southeast’s first public graded schools.
