In the DM Zone with Sweetwater Rain.
Vocally led by singer-songwriters Danny Rivera, the band Sweetwater Rain delivers its lead single, “Starshine”, an infectious tune narrating the exploration of destiny.
Presently, the group opened for The Band Perry. “We are grateful for the opportunity to bring the energy and excitement that Sweetwater Rain has been bringing to fans across the country years. The only difference is that now, with The Band Perry, there will be a lot more people watching,” Danny said.
Danny, whose strong vocals play to the musical mix of country and rock, has made performing a life’s passion from a young age, as did guitarist/vocals Fred Stallcup and bassist/vocals Thomas Hewlett. The final component came when they met for a writing session with songwriter and producer Anthony Smith, who has written chart hits for George Strait, Montgomery Gentry, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill and Rascal Flatts, “We really hit it off,” says Danny, and Smith signed on to produce Sweetwater Rain’s first album.
“We want to captivate and entertain fans with our music,” adds Danny. “That’s our hope and what we’re all about.” It showcases the band’s instrumental strengths, powerhouse harmonies and keen sense for not only songs that touch vibrant emotional places but also delivering them with the fullest impact and appeal.
Country Thunder has a reputation of bringing some of the best country music artist on stage throughout the country. While the crowd was still settling in on day one of the music festival, country newcomers Sweetwater Rain took the stage to give the crowd a little preview of perhaps the most promising up and comers in the business today. With a sincere passion for rain, the band tried nearly every word combination around around “and everything was taken” said Danny Rivera the bands lead singer. “We tried everything” he said. It wasn’t until Rivera was driving in a rain storm in Sweetwater Texas that the name struck him. “I called the guys and said look this up… Does Anyone have it?” As luck would have it, the name was available and so became Sweetwater Rain the band.
The Trio’s first hit “Starshine” has picked up some airplay on country music radio stations around the country. Their video is making its way through the rotation on CMT and GAC as well. It is a given that the song is getting air play. Lead singer Danny Rivera’s voice is crisp, refined and powerful. He mixes a southern rock voice with country that should take this trio to heights they’ve not yet experienced. While listening to their set “crossover” came to mind. Just as many others have crossed the music genre line its apparent Sweetwater Rain will have the ability to do the same thing. In a day and age where rock and country seem to run a fine line, Sweetwater Rain may have just blurred the line a bit more. Lead guitar and vocalist Fred Stallcup and bassist/vocals Thomas Hewitt melt together musically and vocally. Country music superstars The Band Perry have pegged Sweetwater Rain as the opening act for their tour this summer.
